The cake smash session / Baby photographer Amman Jordan
Wednesday, September 9, 2020
Cake smash sessions have gained so much popularity in Amman over the last few years as a fun and stylish way to celebrate the big first birthday! Who can resist? when at the end you will have beautiful images to show your child? “and this was when you suddenly decided to crawl over the cake” “you made such a mess” “you were too elegant to eat cake with your hands” …Isn’t that the whole point?
We have put together this blog post as
An Inspiration Guide for Your Session
to help you plan your own session and to share some tips and tricks we have learned along the years
First things first
the cake
Cakes are the foundation of this session….We offer several types of cakes but our favourite has to be the naked cake, specifically, this healthy version from munchies…homemade with love by a mama who’s passionate about healthy eating, so she created this cake which is gluten and dairy free, sweetened only with dates and fruit; the perfect option for the health conscious mama who wants only the best for her baby! Keep reading to see examples of different setups below…and some more cake styles

Second
the setup
We are known for simplicity….and after rebranding the studio we decided stick to the style we love most for all sessions; we love pastels, fresh flowers, vintage vibes and an overall light theme, even though we sometimes use a dark background when the theme fits…We also try to avoid really specific themes …like a theme based off of a cartoon character and instead opt for themes that are timeless; we don’t want the photos of your baby to ever go out of fashion! Check out the photos below to get inspired

Third
What to wear
Well…babies don’t need to wear too much for a cake smash, sometimes a diaper cover is more than enough but generally, for boys, a neutral romper or a pain of jeans, suspenders also look really great in all sessions! For girls, I also love rompers, one piece little suits in a pastel colour, Tutus can look nice , but they shouldn’t be too bright or too big…finally a ruffled diaper cover can also look amazing and really bring the attention to the star of the show!

Finally
The Result
Let me tell you something…not all babies love cakes…in fact…some of them are actually frightened of it….its actually one of the more interesting parts of the job to see how different babies react ..some babies though absolutely love it and have a blast and make a big mess! We don’t force babies to touch the cake if they dont like it …we try to keep them as happy as we can…but sometimes it is out of our hand …what do you think your baby would do when faced with a cake that they can smash?
